Eloïse Brunet et Romain Cavallin ont découvert l’univers des Institutions Publiques de Protection de la Jeunesse en janvier 2025. Ils y ont lancé un cycle d’ateliers photo avec des jeunes placés judiciairement à Wauthier-Braine. Âgés de 14 à 18 ans, ces jeunes vivent sous une discipline stricte où chaque geste est contrôlé. Ensemble, ils ont transformé la photographie en terrain de jeu : flash, mouvement, cadrage et surtout complicité ont créé un espace imaginaire, loin des limites du centre fermé. Les images, mêlant portraits anonymes et scènes banales, rappellent pourtant l’univers carcéral. Puis, via Eloïse, une correspondance s’est ouverte avec les internes d'un foyer accueillant des jeunes filles placées par un juge. Sans se connaître, ces jeunes se découvrent semblables et partagent des vies marquées par le manque d’amour, de confiance et d’espoir, mais aussi par la volonté de faire autrement.
