Towards an Apartheid-Free Zone
GC Pianofabriek is an open, cosmopolitan community center and workspace where we always warmly welcome local residents and Brussels citizens. We listen to our visitors and continuously develop practices that ensure their well-being as well as that of our staff.
One of these initiatives is the "Towards an Apartheid-Free Zone" program. This strong initiative from the cultural sector responds to the situation in Gaza but goes beyond that. Through this commitment, GC Pianofabriek, alongside many others in the sector, aims to take a clear stand against all forms of discrimination, racism, violence, and violations of human rights and international law.
Concretely, we are conducting an internal evaluation of all our suppliers and partners. If we identify organizations that, in any way, support apartheid regimes or human rights violations, we seek alternatives. The focus is currently on Gaza, but this will extend to other contexts. In this way, we aim to strengthen the ethical framework of our partnerships.
At the same time, we continue to support cultural and community activities that help Brussels residents get through these difficult times with less isolation.
