Would you like to present your artistic practice to other artists and a broader audience – or do you want to practice doing so? Are you looking for a space and budget to shape your work into an exhibition? During 1060 Pitch, we offer Brussels artists a platform to pitch their work to the public. For this fourth edition, we are looking for 3 visual artists or collectives who have a connection with Saint-Gilles (*) and with the theme of intergenerationality.
On January 23, 2025, we invite them to briefly present their work during an open public evening at Pianofabriek. A professional jury and all visitors will be invited to engage in conversation with the artists. Interaction is central. Additionally, each visitor can cast an anonymous vote for one of the three pitches. The artist with the most votes will have the opportunity to use a budget of €1000 to transform the exhibition space of Pianofabriek into their own (solo) exhibition in the spring of 2025.
(*) You live, work, or study in Saint-Gilles, or there is a substantive link with your work.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
> The PITCH team selects three artists from all submissions;
> We meet with the selected artists, who can receive coaching for their pitch preparation if desired;
> The three selected artists pitch their work and an exhibition project during a public evening at Pianofabriek on 23/01/2025;
> A professional jury and the public cast their votes;
> One chosen artist will have access to the exhibition space of Pianofabriek from 31/03 to 30/04/2025.
We aim to create an accessible and friendly meeting space for Brussels artists, where young or emerging artists have the chance to practice presenting their work, and where the public can get to know the work of local artists. Through the voting process, we want to encourage the public to take an active role as a curator.
