Employment Integration at Pianofabriek
GC Pianofabriek vzw is recognized by the Brussels-Capital Region as a social integration enterprise. For this mission, we collaborate with Actiris, the Brussels CPASs, Febio, Tracé, and other social integration organizations.
OUR EMPLOYMENT PROGRAMS
Currently, around twenty employees are following a program with us for a period of one to two years. They have the opportunity to strengthen their talents, develop new skills, and explore their creativity. Our mentors train them to become bar- and kitchen staff, administrative staff, or assistant stage technicians. The programs combine on-the-job learning with external training courses. Step by step, employees take on more responsibility, and we encourage them, in addition to mandatory training, to choose courses that are relevant to them. Through regular evaluation and feedback sessions, we provide intensive and personalized support.
Below, you can read more about the different programs we offer, what they involve, and who they are intended for.
BAR AND KITCHEN STAFF
The bar and kitchen team runs Café Alcantara and adds real value to our catering services for room rentals. Visitors are warmly welcomed and can enjoy fresh soup, homemade cakes, tasty sandwich lunches, and a surprising daily special on Mondays.
Under the guidance of Olivier, a passionate colleague with years of experience in the hospitality industry, employees learn the ins and outs of the profession and grow into confident bartenders and (assistant) chefs. Alcantara is more than just a café: it is a place where people meet, and every visitor to the Pianofabriek can count on a high-quality lunch or a meticulously prepared coffee break.
STAGE TECHNICIANS
The stage technicians training at the Pianofabriek provides employees with a solid foundation in all aspects of the profession. They develop skills in sound recording and amplification, mixing, editing, mastering, as well as in lighting and sound design for concerts and events. Stage technicians also provide the necessary technical support for events organized by external partners and in other community centers within our network.
Under the guidance of Jean-François, Hisham, and Aaron, they learn how to prepare a venue technically—from installing lights and sound to resetting the space afterwards. Step by step, they grow into versatile technicians ready to bring any project to life professionally. After all, no performance, concert, or event can take place without a strong technical team.
ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF
At the reception of the Pianofabriek, our employees develop their skills in customer service and administrative support.
Under the guidance of experienced colleagues such as Sanam, Isabelle, and Gunther, they learn to welcome visitors professionally, answer questions, process registrations, and help people navigate the building. In addition, they gain experience in accounting with Sebastien, further enriching their program. In this way, they grow into welcoming reception staff while strengthening their digital and organizational skills.
In programming and at Citylab, socio-cultural project staff also support the team. They assist in organizing larger events, establish new contacts with partners and artists, and contribute to shaping the programming.
WHO CAN TAKE PART IN THE INTEGRATION PROGRAMS?
The integration programs are primarily intended for jobseekers who experience difficulties accessing the labour market and who wish to gain work experience. The aim is to increase their opportunities in the regular labour market. At the Pianofabriek, we work with two types of integration measures: professional integration contracts and ECOSOC contracts.
Gaining Work Experience through Article 60
An Article 60 contract gives people who are entitled to a social integration income or an equivalent income through the CPAS the opportunity to gain work experience and thereby reduce the distance to regular employment. The term ‘Article 60 employment’ refers to Article 60 §7 of the CPAS Act. This article allows the CPAS to employ someone on a temporary basis.
Conditions?
To find out whether someone is eligible for this type of employment, the candidate must discuss this with the social worker at the CPAS. GC Pianofabriek currently has cooperation agreements with the CPASs of Saint-Gilles, Forest, Uccle, Ixelles, Vilvoorde, and Grimbergen.
How to submit an application?
Contact one of the 19 CPASs in the Brussels-Capital Region. The CPAS you contact will follow up on your application in cooperation with Actiris.
Gaining Work Experience through an ECOSOC Contract
An ECOSOC contract is an employment contract within the social economy for unemployed jobseekers. It offers the opportunity to re-enter the labour market by working in a wide range of sectors. Through Actiris, you can be recruited for such an integration job, allowing you to gain work experience and strengthen your professional skills. (source: Actiris)
