Katja Dreyer - Ophelia comes to Brooklyn_ The Aunt Project

Ophelia comes to Brooklyn is part of The Aunt Project. In it, Katja confronts herself and the audience with what remains when a relative dies: memories, objects, unfinished business, sadness and many questions ...

The play Ophelia comes to Brooklyn was written by Katja’s aunt Antje Katcher. She inherited it when Antje died. They hardly knew each other; Antje went to New York in 1967 and barely had any contact with the rest of the family. She was a writer, publisher and activist. She wrote the play in 1982 in New York. It has never been performed before.
During their residency in BUDA Katja, Davis and Dolly dig into the text and try to find out what the 35-year-old text Ophelia comes to Brooklyn can tell us about today, about the past, about the writer and about ourselves.
