Robin Jonsson - The Hollows III

maa 26/05/2014 > vri 13/06/2014

Robin Jonsson attended the Royal Swedish Ballet School in Stockholm from 1997 to 2003, he studied at P.A.R.T.S. in Brussels 2004 to 2008 and from 2010 to 2012 he studied Sound and Music-design.

During his studies he developed his personal methods of working and started choreographing virtual creatures and gestalts from popular culture, mainly drawing from computer games, animations and puppetry, creating an artificial and precise movement vocabulary. Complex sound and music-design has always been present in Robins work. He draws technical and creative inspiration specifically from sound and music in cinematic medias.

In 2010 he produced and choreographed Simulations and in 2012 he started the series The Hollows. During his residency at Pianofabriek Kunstenwerkplaats he will be working on the third part of this trilogy which will première in 2015.

The Hollows are 3 different productions:

TH1 stages a Zombie-parcours in non-theater houses. It’s an audio choreographed walk in complete darkness that focuses on live fear.
TH2 uses the concept of infection in a black-box performance situation to subvert the rules and the contract between performers and spectators.
TH3 will be an audial performance that is performed in complete darkness. It uses fictions of horror in order to show the artifice of supposedly natural attributes of sounds and of hearing, and more specifically how we use these attributes in creating and "seeing" are surroundings.
